PUBLISHED WORK & FEATURES

I have always loved story telling through my images and that has recently evolved into having some of my work and writing featured in magazines.

Who would have thought someone would let me loose on the pages of their publication! It all started with a Q&A session with the guys at DP Review answering some questions about my photography and it all went from there!

If you are interested to read them you can see some examples below.

I really hope you enjoy reading them.

EDITHBURGH JETTY

Just how far would you travel to reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Well, for divers in South Australia that distance is about 300kms or approximately 3 hour’s drive from Adelaide. The gold can be found on Yorke Peninsula in the sleepy town of Edithburgh – at the end of the main street, under the Jetty.

Folklore tells us that at the end of every rainbow there is a pot of gold – but what IF that pot of gold IS a rainbow – a veritable kaleidoscope of colours and critters. That’s what you’ll find when you dive one of the best of the many Jetties that South Australia has to offer – Edithburgh Jetty. Instead of Leprechauns and shamrocks you’ll discover Leafies and Frogfish and a forest of candy-coloured pylons to explore.....

RAPID BAY JETTY

A wave of excitement and stomach “butterflies” with a feeling of weightlessness - those sensations hit you well before you are in the water diving the iconic site of Rapid Bay Jetty. Those butterflies hit as you come over a particular crest along the road on the way down to the Jetty. Local Divers know the crest in the road I’m talking about – it gets you every time! The same way the anticipation of diving this iconic site still does for me – every single dive.

In truth the nervous energy always starts well before the dive for me. Early in the morning, coming over one of the last hills on the road to the Jetty, a spectacular panorama of St Vincent’s Gulf and surrounding hills unfolds in front of you. It’s an inspiring view........

THE GREAT SOUTHERN REEF

Ask any interstate diver about South Australia and they will probably mention one of three things to you that they know about diving here – Great White Sharks, Leafy Sea Dragons and Giant Cuttlefish.

While each of these remarkable creatures varies wildly to the next in form and function, they all owe their uniqueness and specialization to one powerhouse of an entity: The Great Southern Reef. However, until recently the importance, dynamics, beauty and richness of this huge reef system was largely unrecognized and much still, remains undiscovered.

So, what is the Great Southern Reef and why dive it here in South Australia?.......

LOOK TO THE SOUTH - Diving in South Australia

A few months back, a certain state premier, asked a seemingly innocuous question about South Australia: “Why would anyone want to go there?” However, as more Australians view a Covid Landscape stretching out before them, we are beginning to look closer to home, exploring corners of our world with new eyes.

Now we are finding ourselves genuinely asking THAT question, and in doing so, discovering some of our local magic all over again. As new and experienced Divers, having to look closer to home means we are further asking the question: “Why would I DIVE there?” We are starting to open our minds and curiosity to the idea of diving local places, within our vast country, that will deliver the unique experiences once offered by our favorite overseas diving destinations......
