The Iconic Australian Leafy Sea Dragon
One of the unique experiences you can have when visiting South Australia’s part of the Great Southern Reef, is to dive with Leafy Sea Dragons. These amazing creatures are what probably draws many image makers to South Australia. And yes.....they really do make incredibly photogenic subject matter - once you have found one and worked out how to approach them!!
Whilst they are beautiful and feature as the Marine Emblem of South Australia they can be elusive and difficult to find. While they have specific habitats at locations like Rapid Bay, Second Valley and Edithburgh, finding them can be quite challenging. But reading their body language and knowing how to approach them is at another level - simply stated, it is the difference between a quick snap and a glorious image of an iconic and very unique animal.

Chelsea has over 10 years' experience diving with Australian Leafy Sea Dragons and has a very impressive success rate of spotting these magical creatures. Plus she has enabled many well-known underwater photographers and videographers to return home with images and footage they are proud of!

The bottom line is that if you have set your sights on capturing the essence of the Australian Leafy Sea Dragon - you will probably need some help....and Chelsea knows how to do that, safely and with minimum impact on these wonderful creatures.
