WRECKS
Ghosts of the Deep - The Great Southern Reefs Hidden Jewels
I never thought Wreck diving was my interest – but never say never in life, and with a very rich and often tragic Maritime History in South Australia it is hard to ignore the amazing opportunities and experiences that Wreck Diving has to offer here and I am a convert! With well over 800 known wrecks off our Southern Coastline there is much to explore. Straight off the shore you can visit the Star of Greece at Port Willunga and learn of it’s tragic tale or go deeper and see the historic wrecks of the ex-HMAS Hobart or Zanoni in Ardrossan. If you are a South Australian diver I can guarantee you most likely know the wonderful wreck of the Dredge like the back of your hand. These wrecks have been given new life by our Great Southern Oceans’ nutrient rich waters and are beautifully encrusted in so much life. They are important safe havens for many of our waters iconic species and it is such a gift to get the opportunity to photograph them – something I have no doubt will keep me occupied for years to come.
